At Bupa, our goal is to always play an active role in the community. One of the ways we do this is in working alongside partners to deliver meaningful health and care programs.
As New Zealand’s largest specialist provider of dementia care, the mental health and future resilience of our communities is a major focus for us. Bupa New Zealand was the very first to be recognised in 2019 by Alzheimer’s New Zealand as a dementia-friendly business. This continues to be a great source of pride across our homes and again brings our care before revenue approach to life. In fact, our ‘Person first. Dementia second’ commitment adds a deeper understanding and richer meaning to everything we do. We’re also part of the Dementia-Friendly Rotorua Steering Group, helping to make Rotorua New Zealand’s first dementia-friendly city.

Bupa Foundation
You’ll be working with a company that reinvests its profits into turning our purpose into action. The Bupa Foundation has been operating in Australia since 2005, and has invested more than $32 million into partnerships. In 2022 it extended into Aotearoa New Zealand and has partnered with Trees that Count, in addition to supporting Bupa employees and their communities through the Community Grants programme.
The goals for the Foundation are to build mentally healthy and resilient communities and create a healthy planet for healthy people. Our people are at the heart of the Foundation’s work.

Volunteering
Stronger communities lead to a stronger world. At Bupa, we celebrate our staff members’ passion for giving back, helping them to free up time to achieve their volunteering goals. Eligible employees can use volunteer leave to work with your chosen charity, and there are even opportunities for donation-matching.
We also encourage our people to share in our passions. For instance, Bupa currently partners with Paralymics Australia, supporting the 2024 team as they prepare to head off to Paris to represent the green and gold. We believe in everyone’s ability to follow their dreams, whether it’s on the field, in the pool or beyond.
Sending Our Support
We recently sent 30 Bupa team members to lend a helping hand to Paralymics Australia. They assisted the organisation during Team Processing events around the country, helping our star Para-athletes as they prepare for the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris.

Environmental Sustainability
What we’ve built at Bupa is a strong foundation, but we’re also aware that in order to strengthen, we should always adapt to new realities. Pursuing growth and transformation while embracing our compassion and dedication to our residents.
Not only are we passionate about the health of our people and residents, but equally the health of the planet. We try to be more sustainable wherever we touch people’s lives. Given aged care has our largest carbon footprint, we have been progressively integrating LED lighting, solar panels, food composters and more sustainable building practices for many years now.
