We currently have a range of roles available in Northland between our Merrivale and Totara Gardens Care Homes in Whangarei.

Roles at Totara Gardens: 

Role 1)Permanent Part Time Caregiver at Totara Gardens

• Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time
• Hours: Average 24.5 hours per week
• Shift Time: Afternoon shifts
• Roster Pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (6-weekly rotating roster across Monday - Sunday)

Role 2) Permanent Full-Time Caregiver at Totara Gardens

• Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
• Hours: Average 32 hours per week (Minimum 30 hours a Week)
• Shift Time: One Week of 0645-1515 and One week of 1445-2315
• Roster Pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (6-weekly rotating roster across Monday - Sunday)

Roles at Bupa Merrivale:

Role 3) Fixed Term Full Time Caregiver at Merrivale

• Employment Type: Fixed Term
• Hours: Average 31 hours per week
• Shift Time: All morning shifts
• Roster Pattern: Monday-Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. 
• This role requires working every weekend day.
• This role requires a level 4 caregiver, with medication competency.

Role 4) Permanent Part Time Caregiver at Merrivale

• Employment Type: Permanent Part Time
• Hours: Average 30 hours per week
• Shift Time: Mix of Morning and Afternoon Shifts
• Roster Pattern: Week 1,3,5 – Monday to Thursday PM Shifts, Week 2,4,6 – Monday – Wednesday AM shifts, Thursday and Friday PM Shifts

Role 5) Permanent Part Time Caregiver at Merrivale

• Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
• Hours: Average 32 hours per week (Minimum 30 hours per week)
• Shift Time: Mix of Morning and Afternoon Shifts
• Roster Pattern Week 1,3,5: Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, Week 2,4,6: Monday-Thursday

The purpose of this job

Bupa Merrivale Care Home is in Te Kamo, Whangārei, in a peaceful setting surrounded by landscaped gardens and close to Kamo Village. The home provides rest home and hospital-level care.

Located in Tikipunga, Whangārei, Bupa Tōtara Gardens Care Home is a modern, purpose-built care home offering a contemporary Rest Home, Hospital, Dementia Care, and Care Suites.

As a Caregiver, you’ll work alongside a supportive team to:

• Assist with mobility in line with individual care plans
• Maintain accurate and timely care documentation
• Encourage residents to engage in social activities and community life
• Help create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and your teammates

What you’ll need to make it possible

• Hold a Level 4 Caregiving qualification, with current medication competency (if Level 4) and a strong understanding of safe medication practices
• Bring proven experience in aged care or a comparable healthcare environment
• Exhibit genuine passion for supporting the elderly
• Possess confident communication and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Computer literacy across MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Have a good command of the English Language.
• Hold legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
